Glenn Elvig

Glenn Elvig
Born: Houston, Texas 1953 (72)

Glenn opened his studio in September of 1980. He is still going strong and says he feels like he is just getting warmed up. Having actively exhibited his work from 1980 to 2005, and then he decided to work strictly from his studio doing commissioned work.

He works in both wood and aluminum, creating furniture and sculpture … both indoor and outdoor.

He has received awards over the years … from a bronze medal at Alexandra Palace’s London Woodworkers Show in 1987 to a Best of Show Mixed Media at one of the American Craft Council shows here in the states.

His work is in many permanent collections … private and public. Collections include the Museum for Art in Wood in Philadelphia, The Smithsonian, the Louisville Slugger Museum in Louisville, Kentucky, and The Minneapolis Institute of Art.

Glenn can be found making a lot of noise and sawdust in his St. Paul, Minnesota studio. While he creates very serious works … some with chuckles are not far away.
